Meet the new-season midi dress

After months of winter knits and wide-leg trousers my current fashion pick-me-up is the midi dress. It was a gently simmering trend last summer and is set to be hot for SS17 – but why wait for the sun to come out when this style works so well right now? Layered over a polo knit and merino tights, the midi frock peps up chilly grey days – and it’ll look great with sandals once the ice thaws . The details to look out for? Balloon sleeves, frills, polka dots, gingham and florals all nod to the new season. I’m taking my cue from stylist Kate Foley who was snapped at New York Fashion Week last September in Rejina Pyo‘s marigold puff-sleeve midi dress (see below). Sartorial sunshine.
